BESPOKE TAILORING PROCESS
OUR PROCESS
Crafting a bespoke suit is an art that begins with selecting the finest fabrics and capturing precise measurements to ensure a flawless fit. Every detail, from pad stitching to full canvas construction, is designed to enhance comfort, durability, and timeless style—elements that distinguish bespoke tailoring from off-the-rack alternatives.
At Alongkorn, our master tailors bring decades of expertise and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring each garment reflects the individuality of its wearer. As one of Bangkok’s premier tailoring houses, we take pride in creating pieces that are as unique as the clients who wear them.
Explore our process below and experience the artistry behind every Alongkorn suit.
Step 1
Choosing Your Fabric & Measurements
Gather the customer's requirements and the occasion for which the garment is intended, allowing us to recommend suitable fabrics and styles that complement the customer's body type.
Then we meticulously measure the client, noting any unique physical attributes such as uneven shoulder slopes. Assess the client's posture, classifying it as stoop or erect, for precise pattern drafting.
Step 2
Pattern Drafting &
Striking Out the Pattern
Our skilled cutters meticulously transform the client's measurements and unique body details into a precise paper pattern, carefully adjusting various points to ensure it closely mirrors the client's physique.
The paper pattern is accurately transferred onto the chosen fabric, called Striking Out the Pattern, and then hand-cut by our experienced tailors. For patterned fabrics, extra care is taken to ensure alignment across crucial areas, such as matching patterns between the chest and sleeves or aligning patterns on the breast pocket.
Basted Fitting
Step 3
A canvas is crafted to serve as the garment's structural foundation. Canvas layers are meticulously pad-stitched together, forming a cohesive 3D structure that complements the wearer's physique. The canvas is carefully assembled with the front panel.
During the baste fitting, tailor assess the fit, length, and overall balance. Any necessary adjustments are made by removing the basting threads and repinning the garment. The revised measurements are then incorporated into the client's paper pattern.
The cutter carefully disassembles the garment, marking the required alterations onto the fabric panels. Our in-house tailors hand-stitch the various pieces together.
Forward Fitting
Step 4
At this stage, your suit is approximately 95% complete, with the lapels, collar, pockets, and lining meticulously finished.
The client tries on the suit, allowing the tailor to inspect every details. Any necessary adjustments are carefully noted and recorded on the client's pattern. If required, the client may be invited for another fitting post-alterations to ensure absolute satisfaction.
Step 5
Final Finishing
The final finishing stage is where a bespoke suit truly comes to life, Handmade buttonholes are carefully stitched by hand, ensuring precision and elegance, while the pickstitching along the lapels, front edges, hems, and pocket flaps adds an extra layer of sophistication and structure. This subtle, yet defining detail, showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail in every aspect of the suit.
Every button is securely attached, and the suit is meticulously pressed to achieve its optimal shape, allowing the fabric to drape elegantly while maintaining the perfect fit.
At Alongkorn, this finishing stage is essential to ensuring that your suit not only fits flawlessly but also reflects the artistry, style, and attention to detail that we pride ourselves on. The result is a truly bespoke garment—tailored to your body, crafted to perfection, and built to stand the test of time.
